Morad Bouchakour’s Bye Bye Portfolio is based on his last handmade portfolio from 2008. It is his creative farewell to the medium of portfolio. Before websites and digital slideshows were commonplace, portfolios were always a crucial component of practicing photography. Morad Bouchakour always put a lot of time and effort into them. The last series includes the best photos from fifteen years of commissioned photography and work from independent projects. In a flowing compilation, in which the hierarchy between commissioned and free work has disappeared, Bye Bye Portfolio leads the viewer past intimate portraits of Mennonites in Mexico, American Indians, dynamic street photography in New York and idiosyncratic portraits of Dutch and international celebrities.
